Park City, Utah

The 2024 Mining History Association annual conference opened in Park City tonight with a reception at the old Miners Hospital. While the building dats to 1904, it was not originally in this site being moved here by the local history and preservation group to save it from demolition. A miners hospital in early years but a general hospital for the town until the 1960s. Many local residents were born in this building. The original was built by the Western Federation of Miners with miner donations; it was one of about six they built in places like Telluride, CO and the Silver mining region of Idaho.

From what I can tell by walking around the old downtown, Park City has done a good job of retaining its ‘old mining era cityscape’ in the downtown. The place was hopping tonight with diners, athletes and sightseers and the weather (75 F) really helped.
